Report a Blighted Property in Your Neighborhood

Abandoned Homes Hurt! There are blighted properties in all of Stark County that are not producing any tax revenue for our Schools and Subdivisions. They have been there for many years and the Treasurer's office has been trying to get them back on the tax records. There are properties where the amount of delinquent tax owed is five times or more than the property is worth. This includes RESIDENTIAL, COMMERCIAL AND VACANT LAND. The Stark County Treasurer's department is building a database to try to get these blighted properties back on the tax records and into the hand of Stark County citizens who want to purchase one of these parcels. These properties can be used for several productive uses.

COMING SOON is a database of tax-delinquent properties. We are working to find the owners of these properties so we can try to rectify the situation with a solution that benefits the owners, the county and the residents in the neighborhoods.

Vacant lots, which are tax delinquent, may be eligible for transfer to governmental agencies and charitable corporations such as churches or neighborhood organizations and the like. The proceedings for these transfers are initiated by the Treasurer and conducted before the Stark County Board of Revision. A summary of the enabling law is available here. For further information, call Lem Green at 330-451-7510.

If you are interested in purchasing a tax delinquent building or vacant land, please call us regarding our "interested purchaser" program. A copy of the contract we use to initiate foreclosure proceedings is available at the Treasurer's office. For further information, talk to Chuck Roska at 330-451-7821 or Ed Daniels at 330-451-7823.

Report an Abandoned HomeIf there is a blighted property in your neighborhood, please send us a photo and let our office know where it is. We might put the blighted property on our website or provide you with information on how you could possibly purchase it with the help of your City or Subdivision. Our goal is to get these properties back on the tax records and clean up our neighborhoods. Click here to make your report, or for more information, contact Michael Duruttya 330-451-7493.
